STAGE FEAR

“Stage Fear”

Many of us has this stage fear.

We will discuss the reasons for stage fear and how to overcome stage fear.

But before that I will take example from my own life experiences. As said in the previous blog, I have the enthusiasm to participate in every competition irrespective of whether I will win or not. So, from my childhood I have participated in seminars/elocution competitions. When I participated for the first time in a seminar, I just gave my introduction and after starting the main theme of the seminar I forgot the speech that I had prepared and stopped. And then said thank you and left the dais(stage). It repeated many times when I participated in seminars. Gradually, I self-analyzed the reasons for why I was unable to give a seminar properly.

After rectifying those mistakes gradually, there is no looking back again. From my 11th standard I gave almost every seminar/speech successfully.

This is the main thing I suggest you to keep it in your mind for the rest of your life.

“The people who are in front of you while you are standing on the dais are human beings just like you. Forgot their role, forget whether they are your friends, classmates, teachers, lecturers, principal, and any higher officials. Let it be anyone. They are just humans. There is no need to be afraid about anyone.”

Now, Let’s discuss some practical reasons for the stage fear along with their solutions.

These are the two main reasons for the stage fear:

Lack of Knowledge:

Mistake

This is the main thing we neglect. For any seminar you wish to participate in, you must prepare for that. Most of us just by heart the script and go to the dais and stop in the beginning/middle of the speech due to lack of knowledge. This is the primary mistake we must avoid.

Solution

Let it be any topic, don’t blindly copy paste and by heart the script from google. First do some research about the topic you choose for the seminar. Filter the useful points. Try to convert those sentences into your own version/style. Add some points, if necessary.

Lack of participation & Being in Comfort Zone:

Mistake

Another reason for stage fear is lack of participation and being in a comfort zone. First of all, we don’t participate. We are habituated to being in our comfort zone.

Solution

To come out from stage fear, first learn to come out from the comfort zone. You must move from the role of the audience and take up the role of the speaker.

Second thing is participation. Take the opportunity to participate in seminars. Eventually, you will have the control over your stage fear. The more you participate, the lower will be your stage fear.

Tips to overcome your stage fear:

• Participate more in seminars/ppt presentations.

• Prepare your own script. Don’t by heart the script from google.

Try mirror practicing

You will get to know how you are expressing yourselves to others when you practice seminars in front of a mirror.

• Ask your friends or lecturers for any improvements after completion of your seminar.

• Use simple words in your speech that will help you to remember the script easily. Also, it makes better understanding to your listeners/audience.

MISTAKES

According to my opinion, these are the three common categories and aspects in life where we make mistakes In Academics: Many of us did many mistakes in our academics and even failed in exams too. We see many students are committing suicides when they are failing in their exams, mainly in their 10th standard that too in our India. We, society has influenced the students or children that they should get pass in their 10th standard or else they will fail in life. Not only about the 10th standard there are many parents who inculcate in their children mind that they should get high score or top rank in academics that too in a frightened manner, telling their children that they will be given punishment from their parents. Both parents and teachers need to be awake from the misconceptions. Parents need to understand that Marks alone neither decide the success nor the future of the children. It’s fine if your children get less marks. It’s fine if your children are not able to perform well in a...

SOFT DRINKS

“ ALCOHOL SOFT DRINKS CONSUMPTION IS INJURIOUS TO HEALTH” Yes, The Soft Drinks we are consuming will cause adverse health effects. This is the topic that I’m waiting to make a blog from the day I started blogging. (Note: I have stopped consuming Soft Drinks many months ago)   The health issues caused by the Soft Drinks are Obesity, Diabetes, body weight, heart disease, stomach problem, cancer, liver damage, infertility, bone health, teeth disorders, reproduction problem.   The main reason is Sugar containing in the drink. COMPARISON

Comparison Comparison can kill your confidence and goals. On the other side it can make you achieve your goals.  Yes, there is both positive and negative side for comparison. The positive side comes from gratitude and the negative side comes from comparison alone.  Let’s discuss on both positive side and negative side of comparison. Comparison (Negative Side): Most of us become depressed or lose hope mainly due to comparison. We compare ourselves with others who are successful. We compare our current financial status with someone else’s financial status. Not only us, even our parents compare us to our siblings, cousins and neighbor’s children and make us feel we are worth nothing. It makes us feel like we are useless thus lose hope towards our goals, dreams and even in life.  Gratitude (Positive Side): We make mistake by comparing our present status/situation which includes money, job, car/bike, home, and many more with someone else who is having all those things. ...
