OPPORTUNITY

I will give a real-life example for the best understanding of “opportunity”. When I was studying in my school I participated in many competitions, events etc. I have participated in every seminar, quiz, essay writing competition, games etc. But I have never won in any of those competitions. But I never stopped participating.

I remembered that when I was in my 8th standard, I was asked to give a speech on Jawaharlal Nehru on 14th November on the occasion of Children’s Day. I have prepared well for the speech and on that day when I was giving the speech, I forgot my whole script which I had prepared due to stage fear. I stopped in the middle of the speech in front of 900 students and 20+ staff members. Even after that I never stopped participating in those seminars/speech competitions. At the end of my school days, I  left with the participation certificates only.

My school days were over. I have entered my 11th standard (Intermediate 1st year). I got a notice about the Quiz and Essay writing competition. As an enthusiastic person I have given my name in the participation of both the events. Quiz is a group wise competition in which all participants must be divided into groups of 5 to 6 members and the total number of groups are five. On the competition day, surprisingly my group has won in the quiz competition and the essay writing competition results are yet to be declared on the award ceremony day. On the award ceremony day, I was called to receive the shield for winning in the quiz competition. When the winners names were revealing for the essay writing competition, when the 3rd winner's turn came, my name was called. I was confused whether they called me or not. I felt shocked and surprised to receive two shields (one for quiz and another for essay writing competition).

Even after joining Degree college to pursue my bachelor's degree, I have participated in a quiz competition which is a group wise competition and have won 1st prize in that competition.

Coming to the seminar’s thing, while I am pursuing my bachelor’s degree. Here I have created the opportunities. I used to tell some stories, motivating others and seminars in my class during the leisure periods. At that time, my stage fear was almost diminished. I still have some stage fear, but I have control over it.

The main point that I would like to mention is whether I have won in the competition or not doesn’t matter for me. The thing that I have been constantly focused on is “PARTICIPATION” and grabbing the “OPPORTUNITY” instead of only focusing on “WINNING”.

Here the two things that helped me in my life by participating and taking the opportunity is

1 By participating in the quiz and essay writing competitions constantly helped me to gain knowledge and experience

2 By participating in the seminars constantly helped me to overcome stage fear and gave me the confidence to speak in front of my friends, juniors, lecturers, principal, and unknown people too.

Also, this helped me to confidently speak to the interviewers and get selected in jobs.

Think now, If I stopped participating and left the opportunity after I failed in something, “Will I be able to have that confidence to speak in front of others?” “Will I be able to gain that knowledge and experience from those competitions?”

The answer is “NO”.

When it comes to career, if you are that person who has no clue about what to do in life then you should take the opportunity that comes to you. You can’t simply kick off the opportunity by simply assuming that it’s not worth it. You can’t decide whether the opportunity that comes to you is worth it or not, until you take that opportunity and get into it. First learn to accept the reality and grab the opportunity. Give it a try, after trying that particular opportunity, if you feel that it’s not worth it then it’s up to you whether to stay there or move to the next incoming opportunity or either create an opportunity.

Conclusion:

Never ever afraid to take the opportunity. No matter if you win or fail, no matter what people think about you if you do something wrong after taking that opportunity. You will learn something new from that and gain experience. But if you are afraid to grab the opportunity then you will be the same person with no improvement. If you want to win, first learn to participate/grab the opportunity.

MISTAKES

According to my opinion, these are the three common categories and aspects in life where we make mistakes In Academics: Many of us did many mistakes in our academics and even failed in exams too. We see many students are committing suicides when they are failing in their exams, mainly in their 10th standard that too in our India. We, society has influenced the students or children that they should get pass in their 10th standard or else they will fail in life. Not only about the 10th standard there are many parents who inculcate in their children mind that they should get high score or top rank in academics that too in a frightened manner, telling their children that they will be given punishment from their parents. Both parents and teachers need to be awake from the misconceptions. Parents need to understand that Marks alone neither decide the success nor the future of the children. It’s fine if your children get less marks. It’s fine if your children are not able to perform well in a...

COMPARISON

Comparison Comparison can kill your confidence and goals. On the other side it can make you achieve your goals.  Yes, there is both positive and negative side for comparison. The positive side comes from gratitude and the negative side comes from comparison alone.  Let’s discuss on both positive side and negative side of comparison. Comparison (Negative Side): Most of us become depressed or lose hope mainly due to comparison. We compare ourselves with others who are successful. We compare our current financial status with someone else’s financial status. Not only us, even our parents compare us to our siblings, cousins and neighbor’s children and make us feel we are worth nothing. It makes us feel like we are useless thus lose hope towards our goals, dreams and even in life.  Gratitude (Positive Side): We make mistake by comparing our present status/situation which includes money, job, car/bike, home, and many more with someone else who is having all those things. ...
